Our organisation

TANDEM was established by Tim Hill and James Murray in 2005; as a collaborative studio based architectural practise; focussed on their shared ambition of delivering design excellence, innovative outcomes, on budget and on time.
Tim and James met and worked as design and project architects on the Federation Square project in Melbourne over a 7 year period; during which they were involved in the design, production and realisation of this complex, public project.  Subsequently, both James and Tim went on to take leading roles in a diverse range of public and private commissions in Australia, the UK, the Netherlands and China; before returning to Australia to establish TANDEM.

Partnering opportunities

Tandem has a successful track record of partnering with other design companies on a range of projects including the Museum of Old and New Art Hobart, The Swinburne New Technologies Building Melbourne and the State Sports Facilities, Northern Stand, Albert Park. Overseas partnerships have included working with GHD on luxury villas in Doha, RMIT on the eco resort in Lake Tahu China and most recently with ANS on the first placed competition result for a new culture and entertainment district in the Tianjin binhai area.
Opportunities are in the areas of architectural, urban design and partnerships with other consultants including landscape architects, engineering firms and design consultants. Our firm’s approach is well suited to working with other companies, in particular those that have the resourcing for larger scale projects.
